Meet AgentBox Home: a private family AI

Published June 28, 2026 · 4 min read

Most "home AI" is a microphone in your kitchen wired to a corporate data center. We wanted the opposite: a helpful assistant for the whole household that runs on a box you own, keeps every conversation under your roof, and is built on a model you can actually trust. That's AgentBox Home.

Not the cloud — something you own

There's no subscription to cancel and no account quietly mining your family's questions. AgentBox Home is hardware you buy once and keep. Conversations run and stay on the device, encrypted at rest. The only thing that ever leaves is an optional web-search query — and even then, only the query goes out, never the conversation.

An AI you can trust, by design

The model inside is Salamandra, an open, multilingual model developed by the Language Technologies unit at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center and trained on the MareNostrum 5 supercomputer. What makes it a fit for the home is how deliberately it was built: trained exclusively on open-access and public-domain data, instruction-tuned on public-domain data for chat, and released under a permissive Apache 2.0 license. You can see where it came from — which is more than most assistants can say.

Speaks your language

Salamandra was trained across 35 European languages, so the whole household can chat, translate and learn in the language they're most comfortable in — homework help in one room, a letter to the council in another, a recipe translated on the fly in the kitchen.

Current, without the creep

A purely local model gets stale. So AgentBox Home pairs Salamandra with built-in web search: when a question needs today's answer, it searches, cites its sources, and shows you what it found — while your conversation stays on the box.

Privacy you can hold

Every unit encrypts data on the device, secured by your own user account, password and PIN. For households that want more, the optional Privacy Key adds hardware-backed encryption that ties decryption to a physical key only you hold.

Launch pricing

AgentBox Home is $349 at launch (full price $698), sold at founding-batch pricing and fully refundable until it ships in Q4 2026.
